The Eagles have played five games since coming back from their month long break, dropping a strange game to Merrimack before picking up four straight wins to right the ship. BC is in a strong position both nationally and in Hockey East with a big series against BU coming up this weekend, so before we really get into what should be a great rivalry weekend, let’s take a look at some of what has really stood out over the past handful of games.

Boston College Fall Apart in the Second Half, Lose 88-63 to Duke

Elijah Strong was unexpectedly in street clothes during warmups, and he missed the contest – an absence that no doubt hurt the Eagles. Nevertheless, Boston College controlled the tip, and Chad Venning got the Eagles off to a quick start with six straight points – all in the paint.

Boston College Men’s Hockey Defeats Providence 4-1

Photo by Richard T Gagnon/Getty Images Boston College men’s hockey defeated Providence 4-1 tonight, completing the weekend sweep despite being outshot 31-24 in this evening’s game. BC’s first goal was from James Hagens to Gabe Perreault, and BC took a 1-0 lead into intermission because of that goal. The Eags went up 2-0 early in the second thanks to a goal from Jake Sondreal, but Providence cut the lead to 2-1 with just over 6 minutes to go in the period by scoring immediately upon getting a man advantage.

The Eagles took down a very good Hockey East opponent in their first of two games this weekend, picking up a shutout win over a team ranked in the top five of some national polls.
